So..... it's been a while to say the least..... sorry about that...... yeah.... I have no valid excuse, but that's not going to stop me trying to convince you.....
Reason's why I haven't blogged in a while:
1. I started doing a lot more volunteer work with my local youth group
2. I'm in third year in Ireland, which is the year of the dreaded Junior Cert
3. I've a least quadrupled the amount of friends I have (thanks to number 1)
4. I've been like super busy
Anyway, on with the main point of this post, I was born in January of the year 2000, so I never really feel like the new year has started until It's been my birthday (which it was, yesterday) and now I'm just reflecting I guess, and seeing what I did.
10 things that I did in 2014; (inspired by; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=okPM1KBfdnM )
1. I made friends;
I must have at least quadrupled the amount of friends I have because I went outside, and did things that allowed me to meet new people, and it's been amazing, don't know what I did with my free time before I knew more than one person!
2. I helped set up a youth group;
This is pretty astounding to be that I have affected the world like this, by helping to set up a youth group surrounding issues that affect LGBT people (specifically teens) and I am now a member of that group, which has now done so many cool things, and let me do so many amazing things.
3. I marched in the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Kilkenny (I know how bloody Irish);
With the before mentioned youth group, I got to march in the St. Patrick's Day parade in Kilkenny, we marched right through the town, bashing drums and holding up banners, we also had one hell of a flag, that was 75 feet long and we needed 30 people to hold it! It was also the first time an LGBT group has ever openly marched in the parade, and to be honest it caused quite a stir (the good kind) and was just another amazing thing I've gotten to do this past year.
4. I went to Light Colour Sound;
Once again, because of the youth group , I got free tickets (yes FREE) to Light Colour Sound, a music festival in Kilkenny, I got to see loads of cool bands, and had a blast.
5. Miranda Sings
This year, with my best friend Emma at my side, I got to see the queen Miranda Sings on stage in Dublin Vicar Street. She was amazing, and I almost cried when she came on stage.
6. I displayed my poetry in an exhibit;
This one I can't even wrap my head around... I just can't believe it. In Ossory Youth, they were having an art exhibit for teenage artists and poets, and I admitted my poem and got to show my poetry there. It was all kinds of amazing.
7. I started and finished two diaries;
So I've always kept a diary, but last year I really got into it, and I finished two. Wow, I surely had a lot to say.
8. I got an award at school;
So every year my school has an awards night, where they give awards to students who they feel have done really well in the past school year, and for some mad reason, this year I won one! Incredible. It's now hanging above my desk, framed in all it's glory.
9. Jumped of a pier;
I jumped of a bloody pier. I was really scared to do it, but it was great and I got a pretty cool action shot aswell!
10. I'm so much happier than I was;
Not that I was sad or anything, but in the past year, I've really let myself be happy and I'm much more positive and optimistic and just more fun as a person (If I do say so myself)
All in all, 2014 was both good and bad (cheesy line, I know) but that's the same with everything I guess. Hope 2015 is just as amazing as this year was!
Happy (late) New Year! x
